I decided to round off the ends of the brake rod clevis's. I adjusted the 4-Jaw to center the part, and then marked the chuck so that I only loaded and unloaded the parts using the same two jaws. In that way I didn't have to re-center the 4-jaw for every part (exact precision not necessary).
In this picture I'm using a 1/4" rod to position the part in the 4-jaw chuck.
