Valve Chest Liner - Machining outside diameter 1.JPG
22-Nov-2005
The machining on the liners was completed, the
insides bored to dimension and the valve chest outsid was roughed and
the slots for the steam passage was machined. The outside of the
cyclinder liner was machined only to allow a clean surface to hold in
the lathe chuck.
Then the Cyclinders and liners were send to a
professional honer to hone the Cyclinder and valve chest opening to be
the same and parallel. The liners were also honed to be the same and
parallel. The honer achieved tolerances of less the .0005 on the liners.
