The Valve Spool blank is checked in Gordons lathe. I choose to use bronz aluminum as the material is harded\r than other bronzes.
Finally I have cut the ring grooves and am finishing the steam passage. The groove on the far left is a practice slot. The tool was not ground to the groove size, rather, after plunging the groove, I move the carrage +/- 0.003 to cut the finished groove. This also assured that the sides are straight.
The groove second from the left is the left egde of the spool.
